Google donates R $ 5.5 million to fight hunger in Brazil

That's how it works! The giant Google will donate another R $ 5.5 million to help fight hunger in Brazil during the pandemic - it had already donated R $ 12 million, see below.

The announcement was made on Thursday, 8 and the money will come Google.org, Google's philanthropic arm.

With the donation, the company is expected to help more than seven thousand families - 35 thousand people - impacted by the humanitarian crisis in 40 underprivileged communities in the North and Northeast regions of the country.

The value goes to Gerando Falcões, identified as one of the main institutions ahead of efforts in the fight against hunger in Brazil.

"For Google, it is an honor to support an institution committed to Brazil such as Gerando Falcões and to be able to be part of efforts to fight hunger in the country, especially in the critical moment that we are going through," says Fabio Coelho, president of Google Brazil , in a note.

Five months

The amount donated by Google.org will directly support the “Corona no Paredão, Fome Não” campaign.

The campaign donates digital baskets through cards that will be recharged with R $ 150 monthly for a period of five months.

Google.org has already allocated more than R $ 12 million in Brazil to different initiatives that work for economic and social recovery.

Among the projects benefited in the last year are Potential Women, the Entrepreneurial Woman Network Institute (IRME); TRANSFORMATION, by Transempregos; Conexão Educativa, the New School; ProtegeBR, Olabi's platform; and the Mental Health Map, developed by the Vita Alere Institute.
